Hand Conditions/Injuries

Hand and upper limb conditions and injuries can present for a number of reasons. They can be as a result of a sports injury, work injury, overuse (such as tendon pathologies), road accident, degeneration (wear and tear), as well as a multitude of other reasons. An effective approach to these hand and upper limb problems will involve a comprehensive assessment followed by a customised plan for treatment.

Assessment/Treatment

At Hand Therapy Specialists, your initial appointment will involve a comprehensive assessment of upper limb function including movement, strength and sensation. Your therapist will conduct detailed evaluation of the structures of the hand, wrist and elbow as appropriate, this may include testing muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves as well as using a range of specific clinical tests or functional based tests.

Treatment is tailored to the individual and varies depending on the condition. We utilise a holistic approach which considers your unique interaction within your own environment whether that be at home, work or whilst performing your leisure activities.
